Robotic co-worker baxter joins factory line

A humanoid robot designed to work safely with people on factory production lines has been unveiled.
The robot will be on sale in October and it will cost about $22,000.
Its makers say it can apply common sense, adapt to the environment and can be trained in less than 30 minutes to complete specific works.56
Currently factory robots tend to work separate from humans, often in cages.
To teach baxter a new job, human guides its arms to simulate the desired task, and presses a button to program in the pattern, but if the robot does not understand, it responds with a confused expression.
Baxter will be produce encased in plastic, and will offer a nine-foot wingspan and an array of safety mechanisms, acording to the New York Times, one of which called the e-stop that will automatically shut down the machine.
